Superb Victorian 18k Gold Diamond Pearl Miniature Portrait of a Young Woman Pin. Presented is a beautiful antique 18 karat gold, pearl, and diamond miniature portrait brooch. This piece dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s and is likely of American make. The portrait features a beautiful young woman in a colorful headscarf, with roses behind her ear. The quality of the portrait is very detailed and lifelike, with finely applied gold texturing and detailing on the woman’s clothing and headdress. Even the background of the portrait is very colorful and vibrant. The frame of the portrait features alternating mine cut diamonds and real seed pearls. There are four diamonds of about 4 points each in size, set in platinum so they really sparkle and pop. The pin has a lever catch style safety clasp. This piece is in good overall condition. There is some surface abrasion/minor loss to the paint in the area of the woman’s chin, please let the photos inform your judgment. The diamonds and pearls are all intact. The clasp is a replacement, and there is some old solder visible around the catch and on the sides due to that replacement. This piece is not stamped or hallmarked but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 18 karat gold. The pin is about 1 ¼ inches in diameter. The pin weighs 9.5 grams.
